What does it take for someone to cycle hundreds of kilometers in 4 days in support of people they do not know? Mignon McLaughlin said “People are made of flesh and blood and a miracle fibre called courage.” The 30 cyclists who will take part in the Pink Trees for Pauline Vallei tot Vallei Cycle Tour 2015 are clearly men and women of courage. And when they get on their bicycles on 20 September 2015 in Wilderness to start this 529km tour they will know one thing for sure, business leaders with the hearts of lions have their backs! Lynn Schroeder Motors and Outeniqua Plastics from George stepped up and pledged their support for this cycle tour without wavering.
The unique route of the Pink Trees for Pauline Vallei tot Vallei Cycle Tour 2015 will start in Wilderness in the Garden Route and end in Franschhoek in the Cape Winelands District. The aim of this first of its kind cycle tour is to raise awareness for Pink Trees for Pauline and the needs of the cancer communities of South Africa. When Lynn Schroeder Motors from George heard that there is a need for support vehicles they committed to supply a BMW motorcycle and BMW vehicles for the duration of the tour. To show their utmost support to the cancer communities of South Africa, Raymond Botha, Dealer Principal of Lynn Schroeder Motors confirmed that he will be riding the BMW motorcycle which will also transport the camera man Dewald de Kock. The support given by Lynn Schroeder Motors comes as no surprise as it has been their mission, from the moment they opened their doors in 1992, to develop their business around the needs of their customers.
Jakes Jacobs, together with wife Leoni and daughter Leani, will leave no stone unturned when it comes to supporting those in need. It was with no shortage of vigour that Jakes pledged his company, Outeniqua Plastics’ support to the Pink Trees for Pauline Vallei tot Vallei Cycle Tour. Outeniqua Plastics will throw its weight in and make sure that the cycle tour is a success from start to finish. As quality control and planning is at the core of this business, Outeniqua Plastics will play a valuable role in this prestigious event.
Protea Hotels was one of the major sponsors of Pink Trees for Pauline during the 2014 project. The Pink Trees for Pauline Vallei tot Vallei Cycle Tour have substantial backing from the hotel group during this year’s tour. Protea Hotels strive to be a light to our communities and help to make a positive impact wherever their hotels are found. Although the needs in our beloved continent are great it is Protea Hotels’ belief that by being intentional about caring for those marginalised by society we can help reflect the beauty of life.
Without the unfailing support of sponsors no event can be finished in excellence. The 529km route through Wilderness, Mosselbay, Riversdale, Barrydale, Montagu, Worcester, Ceres, Paarl and Franschhoek will be conquered in excellence by 30 brave cyclists. They will ‘ride like it’s stolen’ because they will know that they have the best support team with them and dedicated sponsors throughout South Africa.
