The registered cancer organisation Pink Trees for Pauline this week announced the 2015 Pink Trees for Pauline Vallei tot Vallei Cycle Tour. The unique route of this cycle tour will start in Wilderness in the Garden Route and will end in Franschhoek in the Cape Winelands District and the cyclists will complete the route over a period of 4 days. The aim of this first of its kind cycle tour is to raise awareness for Pink Trees for Pauline and the needs of the cancer communities of South Africa.
Tour co-ordinator Eugene Jansen van Nieuwenhuizen confirmed that this is the third year of the road cycle tour’s existence. Eugene stated “For the past two years the cyclists completed a route from Johannesburg to Durban. This year it was decided to change the route completely and to enjoy a route through some of the most picturesque parts of the Western Cape.” According to him the group of young professionals taking part in the tour is extremely excited about the new route. The tour will commence on 20 September 2015 in Wilderness in the heart of the Garden Route and it will end on 23 September 2015 in Franschhoek in The Cape Winelands District.
On the 529km unparalleled route cyclists will ride on national roads through Wilderness, Mosselbay, Riversdale, Barrydale, Montagu, Worcester, Ceres, Paarl and Franschhoek. The cyclists will be accompanied by a medical team as well as a BMW motorcycle and BMW support vehicles sponsored by Lynn Schroeder Motors form George. Lynn Schroeder Motors supports the vision of Pink Trees for Pauline whole-heartedly. To sponsor this cycle tour with BMW vehicles seemed befitting because of the professional appeal of the tour. In order to promote community participation the local Tourism Bureau and residents of each village will be invited to partake in the special events that will be organised for each evening. Residents if each village will, by prior arrangement, also be able to join the cyclists on the last 10km of each leg into their village.
The 2015 Pink Trees for Pauline Vallei tot Vallei Cycle Tour will end on 23 September 2015 on a high note with an elegant function at Antonij Rupert Wines. Organising an event such as this requires great effort and without a doubt generous support from the business sector and everybody involved. Pink Trees for Pauline is grateful for all donations which will ensure that this is a truly memorable event. The aim of Pink Trees for Pauline is to raise funds and awareness for all kinds of cancer and to improve the lives of people living with cancer and their families. CANSA will also be collaborating with Pink Trees for Pauline in the 2015 project to make the reach of this unique drive even greater.
